Liverpool Hope University Concert

The Cornerstone and The Great Hall, Liverpool Hope University The Creative Campus 17 Shaw Street Liverpool L6 1HP

Public and directed concert by Dr. Anne James including contributions from Mark Jones on flute.

Tickets to be purchased OTD. Disabled assess to concert hall available via corridor lift, near to ground floor cafe side entrance. Ask theatre staff and ushers for more assistance and/or details.

The Creative Campus is home to the creative and performing arts subjects of Liverpool Hope University which include Fine and Applied Arts, Creative and Performing Arts, Dance, Drama and Music. It is also a place where the University interacts with the North Liverpool community and hosts conferences, performances and arts events. It is home to the Cornerstone Festival (an annual arts festival running from mid November) and the Cornerstone (Art) Gallery. It also hosts creative businesses including the European Opera Centre, Collective Encounters Theatre Company and MILAPFest.

The Creative Campus comprises the Cornerstone Building, the Capstone Building (a new £6.5m development), the Angel Field Renaissance Garden, St Francis Xavier Church and Gerard Manley Hopkins Halls of Residence. On site there are several specialist performance spaces, most notably The Great Hall (Cornerstone) and Hope Theatre (Capstone). An annual programme of arts events takes place in Hope Theatre.

Angel Field Festival: An Evening with Liverpool Hope University Concert Band

The Great Hall at Liverpool Hope University's Creative Campus, 17 Shaw Street, Everton, Liverpool, L6 1HP

'Liverpool Hope Concert Band performs a variety of music for wind band ranging from the great standards of the traditional repertoire by composers such as Holst and Vaughan Williams as well as more current arrangements of film scores and pieces written by student composers from Hope. Although Anne James is the band’s Musical Director, current and ex -students and guest conductors also play a vital role in leading the band.'

Mark Jones (MA) as a volunteer often participates on flute to help assist the student group section forward and support LHU events.

Mark Jones was on flute with a brilliant collection of fellow band musicians, and had a fantastic time performing in the excellent Liverpool Tate arts centre event, namely O.K. The Musical!

On the 27th April, the Jazz Flute Big Band (Merseyside based) had the tremendous pleasure of taking part in a workshop led by the UK woodwind legend, Andrew Panayi! With Mark Jones (on alto flute) as one of the members amongst many, band leader Peter Westbrook and partipants have continued to help bring and sustain this creative approach to foreground of fresh ears:

This year The Mindset Ensemble were chosen to perform Mark Jones' commissioned composition 'City Sites' (with Laura Spark's visual artwork) as a part of Liverpool Lightnight 2016 on May 13th at the local Nordic Church!

A successful launch of The Mindset Ensemble at the Bluecoat was brilliant concert and raised £206 for the Cancer Research UK charity with the gripping, original compositions of Mark Jones!
